Stephen Heathcote, head of training and development of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants explains it this way: 'As part of the introduction of our new CPD scheme we spoke to a wide range of employers in over 30 countries. Our findings highlight that employers are increasingly looking at ways to assess whether individuals have the right skills, knowledge and qualities to perform in the workplace. Increasingly, they are turning to psychometric testing as part of the solution. This is consistent with a trend away from relying on an individual's previous experience and academic achievement as a guarantee of future performance. Academic achievement, in particular, does not provide employers with an indication as to whether an individual has the right attitude and personality to realise their potential.'
